What to bring
What to Bring for Your Vietnam Motorcycle Adventure with Freebird Adventures
At Freebird Adventures, we want to ensure you have a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable ride. While we provide standard riding gear, many riders prefer to bring their own for better fit and familiarity. Below is a detailed checklist to help you prepare for your journey.
Riding Gear – What We Provide
We supply quality riding essentials to keep you safe and comfortable:
✅ Helmets – Standard full-face or open-face helmets
✅ Wet weather overcoats – Essential for unexpected rain showers
✅ Protective riding gear – Basic protection for a comfortable ride
However, for the best experience, we highly recommend bringing your own gear, especially if you prefer a perfect fit and additional protection.
Recommended Riding Gear to Bring
Bringing your own gear ensures maximum comfort and safety. Here’s what we suggest:
🧥 Riding Jacket – A protective motorcycle jacket with padding is ideal. If you’re riding in the mountains, a warmer jacket is a must, as temperatures can drop.
🧤 Gloves – Protective motorcycle gloves for grip, comfort, and safety.
🥾 Sturdy Footwear – Motorcycle boots or tough hiking boots that cover your ankles.
❌ Flip-flops and thongs are NOT suitable for riding (but are great for relaxing after the ride).
👓 Protective Eyewear – Goggles or a helmet visor to protect against dust, wind, and insects.
👖 Durable Riding Pants – Motorcycle pants or reinforced jeans for protection.
🎒 Daypack or Hydration Pack – A small backpack or hydrapack for carrying essentials like snacks, camera, and water.
Additional Essentials to Pack
🌞 Sunscreen – The sun can be intense, especially on long rides. Protect your skin!
🩳 Swimwear – We often visit waterfalls, beaches, and hotels with pools, so bring swim gear.
🧣 Neck Gaiter or Buff – Useful for dusty roads and sun protection.
📷 Camera or GoPro – To capture the breathtaking landscapes and your adventure memories.
💊 Personal Medications – Bring any necessary medications, plus motion sickness tablets if you’re prone to it on winding roads.
🔋 Power Bank & Charging Cables – Stay connected and keep your devices charged.
Pack Smart, Ride Light!
Most of your luggage will be carried on the support vehicle or strapped to the bike, so bring only what you need for the ride. We recommend using waterproof bags or packing cubes for better organization.

How Will I Carry My Luggage?
At Freebird Adventures, we want your ride to be as comfortable and hassle-free as possible. How your luggage is carried depends on the type of tour you choose. Here’s what you need to know:
1️⃣ Tours with a Support Vehicle
✅ Special Event Tours & Premium Private Tours
- These tours include a support vehicle that carries all your luggage.
- You can ride freely without worrying about extra weight.
- Just keep a small daypack for essentials like water, snacks, and a camera.
2️⃣ Tours Without a Support Vehicle
✅ Standard Private Tours & Other Custom Trips
- Riders carry their own gear on their motorcycles.
- How We Help:
- All our motorbikes come with luggage racks, straps, and plastic covers to secure your bags.
- We have a limited supply of saddle bags available for free use.
- Our guides will assist in loading and unloading your gear.
💡 Best Tip:
If your tour does not include a support vehicle, we highly recommend packing light. Bring a backpack that can be securely strapped to your bike for easy travel.
Packing Smart = A Better Ride
- Less weight = More comfort & better control on the bike.
- We’ll help you secure your gear properly before every ride.
- Need extra storage? Ask us in advance about available saddle bags.

Money & Currency Exchange in Vietnam
🇻🇳 Vietnamese Dong (VND) is the official currency. The exchange rate is around $1 USD ≈ 23,000 – 25,000 VND (rates vary).
Where to Exchange Money?
🔹 Banks & Airports – Safe but lower rates.
🔹 Gold & Jewelry Shops – Often the best rates.
🔹 Hotels & Tourist Areas – Convenient but less favorable rates.
📌 Ask your Freebird Adventures guide for the best exchange spots!
ATMs & Credit Cards
🏧 ATMs are widely available but may have withdrawal limits (2M – 5M VND per transaction).
💳 Credit cards are accepted in cities but cash is preferred in rural areas.
💡 Notify your bank before traveling to avoid card blocks.

💵 Most tour expenses are covered—bring $10 – $30/day for drinks, snacks, and souvenirs.
✅ Exchange a small amount at the airport, then more in town.
